Oracle owns the universe

Today I woke up to a single sentence that got everybody in my circle of the geek world talking: "Oracle Buys Sun".

Holy crap, Oracle owns everything in the enterprise now. Java was the only thing running in my universe that didn't have Larry Ellison's stamp on it, and now he owns that too.

Oh wait, there is more...last year Sun bought MySQL...so now Oracle owns MySQL. Wow...Oracle rules the enterprise software market. Is there an open source alternative that isn't part of the Oracle brand now? I can't think of any...

wow.

I'm really floored that this went through. It is good news for Sun shareholders though. Their stock is up 36% as of when I just checked it.
